John Keefe’s Lineage
(Kenpo Karate/DFL)
Martial Arts Influences by Region
China
→ Shaolin Chuan Fa
The roots of many martial arts systems, including Kenpo, trace back to the ancient Shaolin Temple, where monks developed Chuan Fa—a Chinese martial art emphasizing fluid, circular movements, and internal strength.
Japan
→ Kosho Ryu Kenpo
Brought to Hawaii by James Mitose, Kosho Ryu Kenpo is a Japanese adaptation of Chuan Fa, blending traditional Japanese martial arts principles with Chinese influence.
America
→ Dynamic Fist Law
Created by Shihan John Keefe, Dynamic Fist Law (DFL) is a modern American martial arts system influenced by Kenpo, Jujitsu, Karate and other global styles. DFL synthesizes traditional forms, self-defense, and combat strategy into one cohesive system, reflecting the evolution of martial arts across cultures.
